Trying to keep dry

I feel like it's been forever since I've posted anything --> the Olympics has taken over our lives! I just LOVE the Olympics!! There are a few events I could do without (which I will leave un-named since when I mentioned them at work it caused a stir!) but I just love everything else about the Olympics! And being a hater of the cold (aka: all things winter) you'd be surprised that I actually even like the winter Olympics more than summer! See - deep down in my heart I really am a New Englander it's just my brain that's constantly telling me to flee! And rainy season in February is not helping the case. The four of us are tired of being soggy! And I've given up on keeping the floors clean - sorry in advance if you stop over unexpected.

And just because we're glued to the TV doesn't mean we haven't been getting things done! There's actually a few things that I'm really excited to share so just bare with me. I promise many posts in the next few weeks.

And I'm always gathering ideas for new projects and decorating. I was really excited to fall upon this recently:

you can buy your own here

Since we have 2 dogs I've made my own little version of this for our house - once I have it all together I'll get a picture of my own up.

What is up with February 9th??!

Today is my little sister's birthday and I swear every year I learn of someone new that has the same birthday! And I don't even know that many people!!! No joke, I personally know 5 other people that were born on Feb. 9. And they are all different ages and one person is even from a different country so I can't make any rhyme or reason of it.

P.S. I made her that!

Little models

After trying to sew myself a pair of jeans and ending up with a loose pair of clam diggers at best I decided to try my hand in sewing a baby sleeper (since I was told kids clothes are easier and I found the coziest fleece I could get my hands on, on sale!) Turned out kids clothes are easier so I ended up making sleepers for two bff's babies and my niece. Turns out sizing is still a little tough so good thing it's a sleeper!

{As if this wasn't just an excuse to show off these little cuties!!}

Crocheting

I saw an afghan online that was made with what I thought looked like the same idea as a granny square though it was in the shape of a hexagon. So I googled away trying to find a crochet pattern for this hexagon. NO luck! But in all my searching I did find a bunch of other squares I would like to try to make. Not that I need any more project ideas but at least with squares you can make one here and there and then eventually you'll have enough to put together to make a really nice afghan.

One square in particular that I was really excited about was this one. I have never chart crocheted before so I was really excited to try. Last night I made my first square!
