The Semanchik's 30th Birthday Bash

We'd been planning for the better part of a year to throw ourselves a big party because we were both turning 30 this summer and finally have our own house with a big yard! This gave us the leverage to invite anyone and everyone we wanted! So we decided to have it on 4th of July (Dave's birthday) because what better time - it's a garanteed long weekend and ideally the weather should be perfect, although New England's weather has been tricky to predict this year!

It was a stressful day that went by in a whirlwind, but we had gorgous weather and a great turn out! We invited around 150 people and over 90 came! The day wouldn't have gone so smoothly if it weren't for the help of our family and good friends!

For a lot of people this was also the first time seeing our house so lots of tours were given and many compliments paid! One of the biggest highlights ended up being our toilet seat! All of the little kids loved it! They thought it was their own special potty training seat! My sister's niece even thought I made it just for her! The fish soap dispenser in the bathroom was another big hit! We had a lot of little kids with not a single accident and very clean hands! With all the excitement of the bathroom maybe we didn't need to rent the big bounce!

The big train bounce we rented was a hit! The kids didn't want to come out and when they did they were all flushed! The parents loved it because the kids were still exhausted the next day!

Caroline even got Auntie to go in the bounce, thankfully no little kids were harmed!

While the "big kids" also had some fun in the bounce before all the little ones got there we had the beer pong table set up which Dave's friends from work and then my cousins dominated! We really wanted to get a round in to stop their streak but we just didn't get the opportunity.

Meanwhile Beth and Ceppy were the ones to beat at lasso golf! Although we got this information second handed since we were so busy making sure everyone was having a good time! But the pictures tell all!

Tim and Beth gloating???! NEVER!!

The beer and food were plentiful and the tropical summer drinks were enjoyed - such much so that one party-goer could not find her cup to get a new drink, but it was right in her hand!

It ended up being a success! And it was so nice to have everyone over even if we only got to catch up for a few minutes here and there. Those who couldn't make it were missed (and they missed out on quite a party!) Even Roxy had a good time catching up with family and meeting some new friends. A few people wanted to take her home! Oliver on the other hand was NOT happy to have a yard full of people and would not come out to say hi to anyone. He wanted to be left alone in his room.

Our nieces Caroline and Emily, how adorable are they??! I don't get to brag too often!

  1. Yay! We get to be the first to leave you a comment! It looks like you guys had a great time and got a wonderful turnout (90 people, wow!) for your birthday/housewarming/fourthofjuly bash! I'm so sorry James and I missed it! Roxy looks like she made some new friends too and probably had a field day with all the crumbs and handouts, haha. Congratulations and Happy Birthday to you both!
